When you hear the word “CHANGE” what does it mean to you? By definition, the word change means making or becoming a different substance entirely; transform. Have you ever experienced a difficult situation and did not know if it was your way of thinking that made the situation difficult? I know I have. That is the reason I decided to study the Cognitive behavioral Model. To help me identify the areas of my life that can be improved, by learning ways to promote change.
My journey of self- exploration was discovered as a child. I always thought to myself that I want to understand, who I am, as it relates to my thoughts, actions and behaviors. As I began, to mature into a young adult, I became aware of my behavior and actions; deciding, whether they were negative or positive. I started to realize that I did not enjoy some of the ways I was behaving but did not know how to correct it. At this point, I just continued to monitor myself and made mental notes of the things I would like to change. Life changed for me when I started college; consequently, I went into the field of Psychology by default. Unbeknownst to me, the field of psychology assisted me to formulate who I am and make the necessary changes.
In essence, the purpose of my blogs is to help YOU identify some faulty thought patterns that can help you change the way you think and uniquely change your behaviors. Change requires a daily effort and by reading my blogs you can identify how it relates to YOUR life. It will help you understand the multitude of thoughts and behavior that promote change. Be inspired and share the inspiration. Most of all, are you ready for change?
Thought of the day:
“We don’t have to settle for the way things are. Open up to the way things can be. Dare to tap the power within.”- Iyanla Vanzant
